One area that the NAVCP works in is advocacy for diagnosis and treatment of visual impairments. The NAVCP advocates at the federal and state level. Its Federal Advocacy program monitors regulatory and legislative changes that affect the managed vision care industry and to inform its members on a weekly basis about these changes and related issues.
The NAVCP hosts an annual Capital Caucus for relationship-building and bringing together legislators and administration officials with NAVCP members. At the state level, the NAVCP monitors the regulatory and legislative activities in all 50 states. Annually, the organization identifies issues affecting access to vision care, including efforts to add unnecessary costs and complexity to the delivery of vision care services. By ensuring that its members have a political voice, the NAVCP maintains the accessibility and clarity in vision care servicing.
